A lot of people using AI right now are getting really good at what they were already doing.

They call this the competency trap, and according to Gartner, more than half of CMOs are getting stuck in it.

Their teams feel like they're getting more productive using AI, but only one in three are actually seeing the returns they expected.

That's because getting better at what you've always done puts a ceiling on what's possible.

AI doesn't automatically break that ceiling. In fact, it just helps you hit that ceiling faster.

The teams pulling away aren't using AI to produce more as much as they're using it to ask better questions.

What decisions could we make that we couldn't make before?

What could we understand about customers that wasn't feasible last year?

Productivity is now table stakes. Everyone's going to be productive. Everyone will have a new app or product or something to sell you with AI.

The question now is...Are you going to solve the same old problems faster?

Or are you going to solve new, better, more interesting problems?
